Coffee's brewed ahhhh...smells so good! Anyone care to join me for a cup? Star doesn't drink it, I think he must be from another planet but that's another story.;)

So what's on your agenda today?

Good morning Lev, g1lgam3sh and mew2! *passes mew2 a fresh pot* Will this get you started?:)

I'm up early..sorta. We usually get up at 4:30 but star has to go in to work early all week. Today, so far at least is better than yesterday's 3:30 wake-up call because we got to bed a little earlier so we got in close to 6 hours of sleep.

Wew that's some schedule, I'm working from home at the moment and I'm much more productive for it.

I simply classify anything I do as work;) :D

I like that! lol I get to feeling pretty crummy sometimes because I don't have a 'day job' but Star is always telling me that what I do here at MG along with my graphics design, moderating on another forum and in a teaching group 'is' work so I shouldn't feel bad. Now, if I could just turn all this graphics stuff into $$$ I'd be all set! :D

What kind of work are you doing from home or 'is it just your classification?:D

  8. Lev

    Lev MajorGeek

Wow AbbySue.....I think Star is correct. With that list of things you have going on you probably do more in a day that most do with a full-time job!

Our CEO was once asked how many peole work at County Hall....his response was "about 40%". Kinda sums up what I was saying ;)

Planning mostly, I gave up working for 'The Man' a couple of months ago. A friend and I set up on our own, we're installing Interactive White Boards in all the schools in Leeds starting next week. Also we are doing some Bank refurbishments for Barclays, we do the electrics, fire alarms, lighting and data.

I'm also building a couple of 64 bit comps for a company, (it's a sideline, one income stream = slavery, multiple income streams = choice;) ).

    They're 80% done and it's a quick $400, not bad for 3 hours fu....work:)

No more office politics = 90% stress reduction, maybe Sartre was right and Hell is other people. ;) :D

Thanks Lev:) Sometimes I get frustrated with people or the sheer volume of email I get...for the past week and a half I wasn't feeling well so that made it even worse.....I just wasn't comprehending things well I guess:eek: one group generates up to a couple thousand emails a day and the other 500 plus so it can be over-whelming at times...the other forum isn't super busy so that's not so bad but there are days when I just want to 'play' because I have this vision in my head that I want to create and I just don't have the time..lol I'm pretty much on my computer from the time I get up until I go to bed...my 'breaks' consist of doing the laundry or cooking dinner...lol

When I was working....thinking back I'd have to agree with your CEO's statement..that's a good one and applied to some of the peeps I had on staff.

Now that's kewl! Star and I have talked many times about setting up our own business. He's good with graphics design too but for him it would be more of a side-line because he wouldn't want to give up his day job. I would love to do it some time down the road but would need additional equipment and my puter would need some serious upgrading first. Right now either my vid card or monitor is on the fritz...grrrr

Yeah count me in too Flepp, Ive been feeling like this too today, just went out to book my car in for its 1st service, only went there in person to get some fresh air and with our stormy weather today it has woken me up a bit.

I hear you g1lgam3sh on the office politics mularkey, many a time I've thought of setting up on my own either with design or building pc's.

I used to be a mod in a chatroom so I understand. You get absorbed into it and it can take all the time you want to throw at it, and then some. That's great when you are up for it, but sometimes I found I needed time out to be most effective too.

You are doing great AbbySue...keep up the good work!

Good morning little school girl :D

Pay for the auction I won last night, order a truck load of parts, plan something to do with my sons on saturday, get motorcycle running by sunday night, order new baseboards door trim and moulding to finish the house, call the kitchen contractor back (he owes me money), look for vehicle, oh yeah do the day job thing...

  20. Lev

    Lev MajorGeek

I can shorten that "to do" list for ya Bluesman. If you get your sons to help you fix the motorcycle on Saturday you won't need to look for a vehicle, and you've sorted what to do with the boys!! 3 in 1 ;)

Good plan Lev! I used to love "helping" my dad. Requires a bit of patience on the part of Dad though, and repair probably takes longer than doing it alone, but it's good experience.

Peeked in here quick before going to work. Raining and around 70 today; supposed to be in the 30s by the end of the week. Yo-yo weather here this winter. First coffee will be at work. A trip to the bank and grocery shopping after work. Boring day.

Morning everybody, I'm enjoying my last cup of coffee for 10 days, as Cindy and I, and 2 friends are all gonna do a fast/cleanse thing to clean out the crud in our intestines!

And, how is everybody else? Abby, it's good to see you. It's always good to see you. Haven't talked in a bit, how was your holiday, and all that?

  23. Lev

Good luck with that eclayton...have the Excedrin at the ready ;)

  24. BluesMan

I can just see it now a 2yr old and almost 4yr old working on my race bike LOL!!! I don't think there would be enough saturdays before the season to fix it after that. ;)

Morning dude! Or should I say good afternoon considering how early your days are starting? I've often gone to bed at 3:30 AM, but getting up that early is only to stagger to the bathroom once in a while. (shudder) You give "morning person" a whole new meaning. ;)

  27. Ken3

Eric - I'm reading this two ways...

If this is a coffee fast, then use some aspirin not containing caffeine since excedrin does. :)

If this is a full fast you, Cindy and your friends are doing, then I assume the fast is primarily for spiritual guidance/growth and prayerful undertaking? I can't think of better words for this at the moment. If it's primarily for health reasons, then I'd suggest some other method be used. :)

  28. G.T.

    G.T. R.I.P February 4, 2007. You will be missed.

    Hi Eric.

While there may be good spiritual and even diet reasons for fasting, cleaning out the intestines is an old wives tale that predates modern proctology where they can actually SEE what's lurking in the intestines. There is NOT 3 or 4 pounds of old rotten food hanging out down there needing to be forced out. Only time food gets stuck is when you're constipated, and that's easily taken care of. ;)

Haha, so my 'good morning' is a little late - so sue me. ;)

The agenda is quite full today for me: I've got classes and then more work, dentist, picking up stuff for other people, and helping a friend move. Fun eh? I think so...

  30. Phantom

    Phantom Brigadier Britches

I thought I'd the right thing and collapsed into bed at 12:00 a.m. Woke up at 3:00 a.m. with a raging cold! Great!

First coffee has just absorbed into me on the way down. Where's the refill at?

Hope all is well for those out there in Cyber-toon land.

Gonna do some Alternate Media Production, and prepare for the up coming semester by throwing my resume out to anyone who'll hire a older transistorized wirehead/fiber opitic tech :)

Coffee sounds good, perhaps a great cup of truckers brew? :)

Geez Blues, are you hyperactive or what ?? I still remember the list of stuff you did before some party/ shower your wife was giving: powerwash the patio and house, build a brick BBQ, Paint the house, build a deck, dig a swimming pool, install new carpeting, etc etc. Do you ever sit or stand still ??
    LOL.
