Hawaii, for reasons i fail to understand, has close ties with Alaska. we get a lot of them here, which doesn't surprise me, and a lot of Hawaiians go to Alaska, which does. heard its beautiful though. what part of Alaska you from?

I heard England were having severe weather now and even a mini-tornado reported in some areas.

 

And today! Lighning and THunder for most of the day here, and I don't think its stopped raining all day. Fortunatly Lightning and Thunder are vaugly exciting and 'almost' make up for the rain. Almost.

 

Such a shame Matt ...here it is 91F and I'm thinking of taking a half day and spending the rest of the afternoon in our pool with my boys, and later down to the County Fair to see how far they can fling their half-digested hot dogs lol. Styx are playing live....there's a blast from the past!

Well the only consolation is I'm going to the pub now! And walking home in the rain (when you miss the last buss) isn't so bad after a few bevvys!

 

96F here, with 101F forecast for tomorrow. Supposed to start cooling off some next week, which will be nice.

Would love to go to the fair and the Styx concert with you. My kind of music... OLD.

 

I used to love listening to them too in their early days. Come on over Gary.....with the time difference you could just about make it

Last year they had Dave Lee Roth on. I really looked forward to it but he was dreadful. The event is kinda like MGs.....for the whole age range.....and Dave Lee Roth was kinda like if someone came on here with profound sexual connotations and vulgar language. We walked away from the show.......

 

You sing Come Sail Away on the phone tomorrow night and we never call you again.

 

Oh darn, and I even had the karaoki track to back me up.

Not to worry. I gave up on singing many years ago. If I had to "sing for my supper" I'd likely starve to death.

 

vaguely jealous. the thing i miss most about england is the variety and availability of live music. hawaiian ukuleles just don't do it for me. give me rhythm and blues.

 

Well...I'm late, so good afternoon!! Which is good because that means I am done with the all day meeting for work!! School is almost ready to start and they say they need to get us back in the groove of things, but personally...they could save a s**tload of money...that's how useless some of these (mandatory) meetings are!!

But anyway...atleast it is now Beer:30 WOOOOHHOOOOOO!!

If you like Blues, you should come here. Beale Street, downtown Memphis, is one long strip of bars & restaurants, most featuring live music, plus some playing out on the street. Rock, jazz, country, and LOTS of blues. If you saw the old movie "The Firm", with Tom Cruise, the stretch where the kid did the backflips and Cruise copied him was Beale Street.

 

Most definately an awesome place to hang out!! And you gotta go to the Rendevous for some of the best dry rub ribs that I'VE ever had!!

ive been to Tennessee, but not Memphis. i went to the jack danials factory!! i did have the honor of an impromptu blues concert in jackson square though (new orleans). we were looking for live music and stopped a man with a saxophone case to ask about the best places ands he just whipped out his sax and started playing. within minutes there were half a dozen people jamming with him. we later found out that he was one of the top blues players in the world, but i cant for the life of me remember his name. i have been much blessed in my life. hubby used to be a sound engineer for a rock group called 'dirty bertie' in england so i used to have a house full of talented musicians frequently jammin the night away. we used to have what we called 'the sunday club'. pubs in england used to close at two on a sunday afternoon, so whatever band was playing at our local would continue playing at our house. good times.
