This one actually makes me smile when it happens because it's so weird. Ok, whenever I use Winamp version 5 and above my computer just automatically reboots... Honestly I don't even know where to start with this one. Basically I load winamp or double click on an mp3 file, it will run for 30 secs, a minute or 10 minutes then BAM!!! The puter just restarts... I haven't really checked out winamps faq's or tech support becuase its not an urgent matter. Now, everything else is fine. All the programs run as they should. Well what do you all think it may be? My guess would some new feature in the latter releases of winamp that screw with my mobo in some way. I dont think its an OS issue... I know its not the CPU overheating, I know I get enough power, I know other mp3 players and the rest of the programs work (including earlier releases of winamp)... Anyway, my specs..

    AMD ATHLON +2600
    ASUS A7N8X-DLX
    512MB 2700 RAM
WINXP PROF SERVICE PACK 1 + LATEST UPDATES
WD 808GIG ATA100 HD AND SOME OTHER 6GIG ATA/FAR LESS THAN 100 HD (NTFS)
    300WATT POWER SUPPLY
64MB VID CARD NVIDIA (NOT SURE WHICH ONE)

CANT WAIT FOR YOUR INPUT ON THIS...THANX

    Turn off auomtatic restart.

Go to System properties >advanced >startup and recovery settings.

Under system failure, uncheck auomtatic restart.

    Load winamp

Get us the stop error code adn any filename mentioned.

Ok, did what you told me to and the results are as follows...

    1. When I use winamp 5.04 the basic version, I get a exception error.

    AppName: winamp.exe AppVer: 5.0.0.4 ModName: ntdll.dll
    ModVer: 5.1.2600.1217 Offset: 00007d85

this happens as soon as I load it, which hasn't happend before.

    2. When I use winamp 5 Pro, my system restarts almost right away. No error code to speek of, just wham bam thank you mam.

Well, the error you mentioned is not fatal enough to reboot you.

You've not seen any blue screens?

I have had success with winamp never had any type of error code though I did get one when I didn't have the right codec or the Winamp program wasn't totally complete in the installation. Try reinstalling it see what happens unless you already did.

Heyaa me again. As a matter a fact I did get two Blue screens of death. One pointed to a win32k.sys driver with some memory dump information, the other was refrenced to an irq. More or less along the lines of irq_not_equal_zero or something like that. Dont recall exactly. Could it be a PnP issue? All of my devices work as they should, no conflicts what so ever... I use other mp3 players and they're fine. Now the sound card I use is the intergrated AC97. The funny thing is, I dont remeber seeing it in the device manager, makes me wanna believe it gets its reseources through the bios or something. What do you think.

P.S. Maybe SP2 will fix this
