Good place to buy a new, decent, cheap laptop?

Sorry if this isn't the best forum for this, "hardware" seemed about as close as I could get.

I scored my last laptop on slickdeals.net but I don't see much there right now and I need a new one ASAP. Old one died, in the midst of grad school, can't really delay on this.

My boss likes this one

I dunno much about hardware though. I don't need anything too fancy, though I do run music production software which kind of eats up RAM and the likes. And I guess a good wireless card, I'm jumping online all over the place, and can't always control how strong the signal will be.

What do you think?

If you will possibly need support Best Buy or Fry's is a good call. If not you can save a few $$ with Newegg or Amazon.
Things to think about:
the one you mentioned comes with 32 bit OS so you are stuck at 4G RAM (should be fine unless you have a ton of apps open at once)
250G HD is big for anything but video, that is a tiny drive for movie watching (you can add external, but then you have to lug it around)
you can forget gaming on it (not in your tasks mentioned, but many assume their computers can game)

That laptop can address 8G, so if you can upgrade to Win 64 bit I would do that and think about a larger HD.

 

Also, if it's urgent to get the new laptop and you're handy with a screwdriver (and comfortable working on computers), just get this one and buy a 500GB hard drive on one of Newegg's Daily Deals down the road.

Keep in mind also that one of the advantages of buying at Best Buy or Fry's is that you don't have to wait five days for it to arrive in the mail, you can get it the same day. If time is vital to you that's a good reason to get one from Best Buy.
