I hope this isn't an inappropriate post for this forum . I am looking for some software to view .avi videos beyond the usual Real Player or Windows Media Player.

Specifically I need something that has really precise cue and review capabilities
which Real and wmp don't have. I want be able to rewind/review and cue/ff the video a few seconds at a time in a precise controllable way.

I've spent ages trawling through Google but am none the wiser for the experience. Anyone suggest anything?

Divx is nice but the cue/review is still not very precise. I am guessing here but I'd have thought video editing software would have very precise cue/review capabilities - but full editing capabilities would probably be overkill for my purposes.

Yeah- DivX is great, as is it's palindrome: Xvid. Be sure you have the right codecs installed; some .avi's won't play back w/o the correct codecs. You can also check the Multimedia downloads here at MajorGeeks. There's tons of good, free media players in there and I'm sure you'll find something to suit your needs.
