Good Tablet Upgrade?

Hi.

I currently have an old Sony Xperia S (sgpt1211). I mainly just use it at home for web browsing, email, playing Clash of Clans, etc.

I've noticed it seems to be getting slow, especially switching between apps it can hang for 10-20 seconds.

I've $340 vouchers for a store called JB HiFi and am thinking of upgrading to a Samsung Galaxy Tab A 9.7 WiFi 16GB for $348(AUD).

Can anyone advise if this would be a decent upgrade and/or why?

Wanted to run it past some experts before purchasing.
