Here lately I go to Google and do a search and after I hit Enter I always get some b/s site that seems to want to sell me something. I hit the back button hit Enter again, same thing. I finally get the web site I want on the third try. Whats going on? Anyone else getting this? Is there a bug in my puter? I've ran Spybot and it catches something but it deletes it and its immune to it from there on. But everytime I google something it does it again. What do I need to do? Oh, I also have Avira and ZoneAlarm so what gets past that?

Sounds like your browser has been hijacked. I could try offering suggestions but it would probably be better if you consulted the spyware experts to rule that out before any other solutions are tried. First run through the things mentioned in the sticky and then if you still have no joy, post in the malware forum.

I will give you one suggestion though if the sticky doesn't help; type this exactly as it appears into your address bar (or copy and paste):

    javascript:alert(navigator.userAgent)

A message box will appear with some text and an OK button. Post this text for the spyware guys (or a screenshot) because it may be helpful to them. Also, tell them the address(es) you keep ending up at; they may also be useful info.

As to how does something get through your security? Because there are people determined to get to us and even keeping your security absolutely perfect won't necessarily stop the latest bug or keep you from inadvertantly downloading something from a site you visit, quite possibly without even knowing you downloaded it. The best protection against these nasties is adequate security kept fully up-to-date, patch regularly and set Restore points, and back up all your precious data on a regular basis. That way, if worst comes to worst, you reinstall and it's no big drama because the only important thing on your computer is irreplaceable data such as those cute photos of your new baby or Cousin Joe's most recent letter.
