Hello, I have 2 PCs running XP Pro SP3 with wireless wifi connection. Chrome is my chosen browser and has run OK on both machines for many months without problems. This morning, opening Chrome on my main PC stalled the programme with the message " Error 102 server refused connection". Booting up my second PC and Chrome runs as normal.
Tested both PCs with IE and both run OK.
I have tried Uninstalling Chrome and re-installing a number of times with the same result.
    Your help would be appreciated.
    regards

Seems to be a known problem, but there is a temporary workaround HERE

Thank you for your reply earthling but my problem is not with GMAIL but the Chrome browser itself. I can only access Gmail with another browser and that seems to work fine.

    regards

Hi plodr, Thanks for the message. I have done the following: I have run latest MalwareBytes, Uninstalled and fresh installed A new Chrome. I followed your instructions including placing a tick in box for "Automatically detect settings", leaving remaining boxes unchecked and closed the dialog boxes. I found that I still had the problem so I went through all again with same lack of response. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Check whether you need a new browser user profile.

If you see this error message repeatedly, your browser user profile may be corrupted. First try moving the Default subfolder from your User Data folder to see if that fixes the problem:

Go to Start menu > Run.
Enter one of the following directories in the text field, depending on your operating system:
    Windows

    Windows XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Data\
    Mac OS X: ~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/Default

    Linux: ~/.config/google-chrome/Default

    Click OK.
In the window that opens, rename the "Default" folder as "Backup."
Move the "Backup" folder from the "User Data" folder up one level to the "Chrome" folder.
If you continue to see the error, try creating a new user profile to replace your current one.
