I uninstalled the old one and the new one installed fine. Double clicking on the desktop icon does nothing as does doing the same in Program Files. Anyone else experiencing this? XP SP2

i have been playing with it i got 2 icons on desktop but it turns out 1 is for setup and the second is the shortcut but from what i have seen it's a lot better than my old one have just been studying fisherman's wharf in san francisco and i can get close enough to see the people walking in the street.

Good question as when I boot back to XP from Vista I sometimes go back 3hours as I did today. The time is correct now. Something else I noticed was that I was missing the googleearth.msi file when I tried to repair the install. I also ran Reg Seeker just in case. Time to try again. Thanks.

I can't remember if I simply installed / upgraded the new version over an older version, or if I un-installed the older version first.

Maybe download the new version again, from MG of course, in case your new version was corrupt somehow. Maybe try installing the new version again, over your current new version.

I'm using the latest version ( 4.2.0180.1134 (beta) Build Date Aug 20 2007)
    with no apparent problems.

MG link (for anyone interested). ;) Google Earth 4.2.0180.1134 Beta

Re-installing over again still gives me the same grief. Here's the error message I get when trying to do a repair. BTW, the file is not found by doing a search on all hidden folders that have already been set to be visible.:confused

Already ran the Win Installer Clean up before with no joy. However, I found a fix here at Google, I created a new admin acct. and it works from there so some progress. I'll now try to copy the new msi file into the original acct. and see if it works. Thanks Steve.
