If anyone has a Google+ invite please contact me at tim@ this website. I have a few feelers out and I hear that invites are being allowed again today. Would like to get in early just in case unlike our late entry to facebook

Google Unleashes First Wave of Google+ Invites [UPDATE]

Google+, the search giant’s answer to Facebook, is currently in a “limited field test.” However, it looks like Google has opened the floodgates to the masses.

The Google+ project is the company’s social initiative that brings friend streams, group video chat and group texting to Google’s millions of users. Check out our review of Google+ if you want to learn more.

For the past few days, Google+ invites have not been available to the public, but apparently Google is prepared to test the service with a larger group. Google+ users will find a button that allows them to invite their friends on the Google+ Stream page. Invites are also available if a Google+ user shares content with a non-user via email.

Google+ invites are in high demand. I sent just one tweet and posted one update on Facebook, and I have received more than 100 requests for invites. Request for Google+ invites are flooding Twitter.

Update: Google has closed off invites after just a few hours. Demand was “insanely high,” according to Google SVP of Social Vic Gundotra.

In case you hadn’t noticed by now, demand for access to Google+ is astronomic right now, and when demand for something is exceed supply, the scammers and others looking to make a quick buck will undoubtedly come out to play.

There’s no difference here. Access to Google+ is currently on sale on eBay for prices ranging between$0.99 and $27 by a number of sellers claiming to offer ‘instant delivery’.

Are you desperate to get onto Google+, the search giant's new social network? Don't be too desperate: a rash of fake invites are spreading on the strength of user desire.

According to Sophos, an Internet security vendor, false Google+ invites are making the rounds, leading users to click on links that lead not to the social network, but to pharmaceutical websites selling Viagra, Cialis and more.

"The messages look similar to the real emails that users may receive from friends who are already members of Google+," wrote Sophos researcher Graham Cluely. "The spammers are no doubt hoping that the email will be too hard to resist for many people eager to see Google's new social network, although just how many users will be tempted to buy drugs online is a mystery".
