Read same earlier Bill, very interesting and wouldn't mind testing this out, chatting to sone techs today the speculation is are they going the Linux route or proprietory codebase, will it be windows app compatible, will they bundle a browser with it as in some articles it's been mentioned at the anti-trust lawyers in the USA are looking at google now over the online books thing, but are now interested in the os and if bundled with browser, media player and maybe an office app that this would definatly spark the interest of anti competitive gov lawyers!

I know initially they are going after the lightweight netbook Market which will hit Linux, but can they also fullfill their promise as an os that doesn't need securing! While they still cannot fully secure google docs and gmail!

Time will tell and good on them for taking this on, will be interested as I said at start of post to try this os

Interesting concept. I'm not sure how appealing it's going to be though unless you are using it on a phone or as they say, netbooks, since it's sounds like it's pure function will be surfing.

Here in lies a new problem, Google where one of the main vocals in Microsoft being hit for Anti-trust law suits and of late wanting Windows 7 to list all browsers available to use built into the OS for users to choose.... will Google do the same? or have built in Chrome Browser, will it let us run or install IE or Opera.... ok questions for when the beta is out, but will be interesting not only on a technical level but in a legal level too, with whats previously happened to MSFT.

They still tout Chrome at times on Google Search main page, they dont list Firefox, Opera, Safari or IE as alternatives! tut tut!

Microsoft accutally has something they been working on for a while in MS Research thats similar to Googles offering, in MS Gazelle
