Hey, im new here and signed up to ask this question. If its in the wrong section, lemme know and ill delete it. The problem I have is I have a business, but if I search for it on google, its not the first listing that shows up. It actually says I spelled it wrong and is about the 4th listing down. How can I make it so its the first one that shows up?

The business name is z-----am---quest. take out the dashes(didnt want this thread to show up if you search for it) When I search for it I either get the spell check thing for zams quest or ramquest. Any help? Thanks brahs

When I google it it comes up to the 1st one at the top. No problems with it for me. In Iowa

I don't know if this is any help or not but...

If you type it as name.com it shows up first at Google. If you type it with quotes: "name" it shows up first. If one of those two methods isn't used, it shows up third. At both Bing and Yahoo! it shows up first by just typing the name, without adding either the .com or the quotes.

I can't believe you think it should automatically show up first in the list on Google. Most people would give anything to have their listing show up first on any major search engine. Usually you have to jump through certain procedural hoops to get your listing anywhere near the front of the line, and thousands of people pay monthly service fees to companies that specialize in keeping websites on or near the first page. You're extremely lucky that your business has a unique name that will undoubtedly always be up toward the beginning of the first page.

PS The reason that "zams quest" comes up is because Zams Quest is an actual website, and apparently is listed before yours.

A search for "zam quest", with the quotations, comes up 7th here in WI.

I think what may be more important to you is to optimize your website so that it is easily found with a search for say, "precision milling" or whatever terms your potential customers would incorporate in a search.

There are plenty of experts out there, maybe here, that can help you with that. I know a few tricks, but not enough to offer you any substantial advice.:wave:wave

Thanks brandypeppy, I'd definitely like to ask you to share the tricks that you know. Every little bit helps all of us get our websites noticed a bit more.

Imperfect; one 'word' I didn't see above is SEO. This is what you should do or pay someone to do for your site, if you are not doing it already. That's Search Engine Optimisation

Google will let you download helper systems for free.

I'm a novice but have worked at this for 6 months and have sites that now appear in the top 20 whereas before they never showed. That's just by reading around various SEO sites. Eg., I don't see much in your meta data area. And, if I'm right, I see no link out to any other site so I assume no other site links to yours.
