Google results scroll with bullet/pointer

Man how annoying is this new feature?! When scrolling with the up/down keys on the k/board the results get a little arrow/pointer/bullet that jumps between the results depending on which way you're going (I'm sure know how it works).

Just wanted to voice my opinion. This sucks as it makes the screen 'jumpy', I like the old way heaps better, where it just moves the whole page up or down. Much smoother.

Is there any way of disabling this so called feature? I read you can do it by disabling Google Instant (yes, I DID Google this before posting) but I wanted to disable just the scrolling feature.

Cheers, hope to get an answer for this.

    I'm using Firefox 3.6.13

Page Down still moves the whole page. Is that troublesome for some reason?

I'm not sure what the arrows keys used to do but the little scroll pointer let's you just push enter when you get to your result. It seems strange that arrow down and page down would have done the same thing. Are you sure that used to be the case?

I'm not seeing any arrow, pointer or bullet and Instant is on according to the note at the top of my search results. (FF 3.6.13 for me too)

    Hi plodr,

I'm running FF 4 Beta with google instant on. I've never noticed the pointer before but I always scroll with either the mouse or page down.

Thanks for the visuals guys. I NEVER noticed that before. :-o It is not Windows 7 because I'm on XP Home at the moment.
I too scroll with my mousewheel and the pointer doesn't move from the first entry using the wheel. It does move if I use the keyboard arrows. I tend to use the mouse much more than the keyboard.

There HAS to be a way to disable this though.

I use the keyboard when I recline back and rest the keyboard on the lap! Or when I already have my hands on the keyboard.

    It's mega annoying.

No matter what I do, can't get those arrows to appear. The only thing I can think of that might keep them from showing up is an add-on I've installed, OptimizeGoogle, although I haven't found anything in it's configuration that would effect whether or not that arrow appears.

Oh. I just noticed something that probably explains why you can't get the arrows.

It only happens when I'm on the laptop keyboard. When I have the laptop docked and am using my 'normal' keyboard it doesn't do it. Just scrolls the whole as normal.

Looks like this is a specific setting in laptop keyboards.
