Google has begun an ambitious project to digitally scan books from 5 libraries: Harvard University, Stanford University, the University of Michigan, the New York Public Library, and the University of Oxford. Google's goal is to make the books from these collections searchable online. The project is an expansion of the Google Print program, the goal of which is to work with publishers to make their books and other information searchable online.

I wonder if there will be any copyrights infringement charges levied at Googles, I'm sure someone (author) out there won't like it.

BTW how they scan all those books? do they have a page turning machine that does it automatically?

They will only scan books that are not covered by copyright, or with the autthor's permission. Even without copyrighted works, it will be a huge library.
