Google Voice Obi? Or Any Low Cost Fix For This?

Caller ID has not been displaying for me on my Caller ID phones. I have Magic Jack, and even with a direct connection from Magic Jack to either of my Caller ID phones, both of their LEDs displayed NO CALLS

I should emphasize that I wish to avoid cordless phones.

Apparently Magic Jack's coding is not compatible with Caller ID phones.

While a solution might be Google Voice (with OBI200, I'm concerned re: privacy, due to Google linking everything to everything else. So if Google employs Voice Recognition, and I relay my name and SS# over the phone to my doctor's office or to my bank, then Google will have my name & ID linked to my phone discussions, which they can then match up with my name which appears periodically within my gmails. And they may track peoples' YouTube visits via IP numbers, and link those to the IP numbers connected with Gmail logins.

On the other hand, as bad as Magic Jack is, they're limited insofar as being able to link everything. The only privacy they can invade is phone calls, but not link them to online data.

So what's the best option for me, if I want Caller ID using corded phones? Until now I've been using my external answering machine, but it can lead to lots of friction to use Call Waiting (which interrupts phone discussions) vs. the convenience of Caller ID.

hmm...so it's free, i see. Wondering why I only heard of MJ & GV but not this?

I'm a bit nervous about something not so well known.

Can you use corded phones with it, independent of computer? (I currently use 3 Corded Non-LED Panasonic phones with Magic Jack, including answering machine, and sometimes even connect my fax when I need to fax something, but then need to disconnect the fax.

So would Blackbelt work with two corded Panasonic phones, and a 3rd corded caller-id phone?

Is there a huge learning curve for a novice?

I think its free from PC to PC only, but it should assist you to connect to a NULNET knowledge exchange network if thats your g.

The WASTE feature will allow call over MicroSIP as opposed to browser!.

Release your fears and go network wireless! :)

Hello. BlackBelt Privacy is a communications suite, covering anon-browse, file tx, chat, chat-forums and Video VoIP Conferencing.
VideoVoIP is implemented using MicroSip, which is a custom build in the package to aid connectivity for most home users behind NAT and uPnP capable routers.

MicroSip is a separate standalone VoIP tool that should be intuitive for most users and is quite easy to use.
I am not sure it can integrate with VoIP handsets. Its designed to use the devices in the computer it runs on.
You may be able to get inventive and have MicroSip use devices appearing in Windows that are actually wireless connected to it.

If you need more help or would like to talk about all this, please do feel free to fire up WASTE and look for users on the NULNET with names as opposed to random ID's. They are more likely to talk to you and help you out.

Or we can have the discussion here for others to benefit.

We do hope you enjoy using the suite if you are a user. We are heavily user driven. Your feedback is highly valued as a result.

    Thank you.

The WASTE feature will call over MicroSip. This was always the case, for administrator users of the suite. Clicking a sip url of the form sip:x@<hostname>:<port> will cause MicroSip to respond by completing the call.

    MicroSip works over IPv4.

WASTE can work over IPv4, i2p and Tor, but not simultaneously. Proxies are used to reach those networks, but WASTE is fully compatible with end-points of those networks, including the latest onion v3 services.

Vidalia, the Tor controller, is also customized. It has seen minor enhancements to be more compatible with modern Tor PT's, or Pluggable Transports.

The team are considering whether to provide support for freenet, but have no clue about it as yet.
