I'm looking to increase privacy when surfing the web. I don't like people collecting information about my habits. Not into anything bad just to the extent I can I would like to increase my privacy while surfing and prevent as much tracking information as I can.

    Currently I:
Run CCleaner at least once a day
Run Avira Free antivirus at least once a week
Run the full paid for version of Anti Malwarebytes at least once a week (got a lifetime subscription for $14.95 so took it)

Google Chrome is the browser I use.

There is a program called GoogleClean from a company called Ablesoft that says it prevents information about my surfing from being transmitted back to google.

I just completed the 30 day trial and am considering purchasing for $14.95 they also offer for an additional $9.95 to be able to update the service for the next two years.

Does anyone have any experience with this product? I liked it for the thirty day trial.

    Opinions would be greatly appreciated.

if this is in the wrong forum mod's feel free to move thanks

just rechecking this...has anyone at least heard of googleclean?

I know privacy isnt thare that much on the web..its more about reducing the information that can be collected for marketing purposes and that was what was appealing about this product

any ideas...total waste of money or is there some value here?

If this is misplaced a suggestion as to where it sould be woudl also be appreciated or if there are links to relevant articles on this subject I would also appreciate them.

    thanks

    thanks for the replies!

I already use an updated ccleaner ona daily basis.

The ghostery being available on Googles chrome site would make me believe that it dosen't interfere with Google itself tracking your information for its won purposes. i would be surprised if it would promote a product that worked against its own self interest.

I'm a little surprised that no one knows anything about the googleclean program...it has a free 30 day trial that I've already used up but am hoping to find some with information or experience about it.

looking closer at ghostery again thanks still solicitting opinions and ideas here

Sorry, I don't use GoogleClean but use Ghostery on Firefox and Palemoon Browsers and it works perfectly. The extension (addon) is authored by Evidon: http://www.ghostery.com/download Browse around within the provided link. ;) Not sure how this extension works in Google Chrome though since I tried that browser and didn't like it.

Damn, Google Clean needed now to protect us from from Google?!:eek I don't bother with this crap anymore. CCleaner once in a while is enough for me. You are going to be tracked, if not from here then you'll be tracked from any other site too. You can't evade it.

Just do the basic protections as recommended in the malware forums and you will be fine. Cookies don't matter IMO.
