GoogleVoice Fatal Installation Error 1603.

For some time, I had been using Google Voice without a problem until recently. I signed in, tried to make a call and got this message: "Add voice or video chat" in the chat window. I downloaded the installer (I don't know what happened to the plugin that was there and working previously), tried to install it and I keep getting this message: "Error 1603 fatal installation error." I've tried Revo Uninstaller thinking there were remnants that needed to be removed, unfortunately it doesn't find a trace of the original and therefore won't uninstall it. I've also run CCleaner. No luck. Google is aware of the problem (as of Dec 10) and still there is no available workaround that has worked. Any ideas?

 

Try rolling back the computer to a restore point before the error occurred.

Are you by chance using encryption on the drive in question?

 

Abekl, not that I'm aware of. I don't even know what it is.

Plodr, I can't locate the file "googletalkplugin_port." It does not appear either in

(Windows XP C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Google Talk Plugin

or anywhere else for that matter. Any other ideas would be appreciated.
