Googley claims my ip address is creating too much traffic

This is so irritating. Tonight when I first came online and typed a search term I got a google page saying they had detected an 'unusual' amount of traffic coming from my ip address so I had to replicate one of those alphabet thingys where you type in the letters you see because google said it needed me to prove I was me, and not a robot.[we could all be biological robots] Personally, I think it was because I was in 'private browsing' mode and have stuff on my computer to stop ads and trackers, so google wasn't able to track me. I do not see how I could be creating too much traffic when all I have is a dial-up connection and I was the only one using the computer. No one else using the computer could possibly create robots as they are more computer illiterate than I am, if that is possible.
Why is this happening? Is there some way to contact someone accountable at google regarding this? This happened about two years ago and I did contact them but they claimed they didn't know why it happened.

Interesting ... never heard of this. Are you appearing to Google to come from the USA or somewhere else?

The reason it is worrisome to me is because I just have a dial-up connection with an old computer, pretty slow. How could that create too much traffic for google??What use would my computer be to robots, etc? I had received this message a number of times, had to disconnect and go back on.

Coming from a dial-up connection? Wow, I can't imagine ... if you feel up to it, you might install the TCP View tool and monitor what is going out over the wire.

    pcunite,
Was not aware of that. Good idea. Do they have a 'TCP View for dummies' version? for we who are slightly :) older and non-tech or is this pretty user friendly? Happen to know how many mg memory [the real nos. not the ones they tell us].
    Thanks,
    Sheena

    Hello again pcunite.
I just looked at the website for 'tcp view' and it just talked about computers talking to each other's applications. Forgive what is probably a dumb question, but should I be also concerned about what 'packets' are being sent out from my computer?

    Sheena,
Sorry ... it is a technical application and to describe the details is quite a bit of work. But yes, your computer sends and receives packets. With everything on your computer closed I was curious as to how many packets you might be sending. This would perhaps indicate a malware infection.

Could also be an AV or anti-spyware program looking for a definitions update.
