I just tryed to install direct x on my comp but when i got to end of installation i got an error that said A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted. Please verify the cryptographic services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is valid. Any ideas on how to fix this?

As for the cryptographic service running, go to Run and type " msconfig" minus the quotation marks and hit enter. This should bring up a screen, click on the services tab. This should bring up a screen which shows all the services that are installed. If the cryptographic service is running it will have a check mark in the box that precedes the entry. If it doesn't have a check mark, click in the box, a check mark should appear, and hit apply, and reboot. For the valid cab file certificate, you will have to wait for other to reply. Hope this helps!:)

Seems that my answer was too quick and there were other questions that I should have asked. What operating system are you running and what service pack level.

The validation issue that you ran across is something that Microsoft has started doing with the latest DirectX downloads. In order to install and run, your copy of Windows has to be checked and validated as genuine.:)
