Got a question?

O.k so I have DSL connection in my home.How hard would it be for someone to tap in and share my ip address?Is there something I should get on my computer so that can not happen?

My daughter told me while online a few nights ago that something popped up that said user has the same IP address as you so could not preform.Needless to say she was on the now popular site yoville which I'm not to crazy about.Sorry if none of these makes sense but just really unsure of what it all means.Thanks for taking time to read my post.

first question. ip addresses can not be shared, if 2 systems have sams address one gets knocked off. second some one can not steal an address they are assigned by a dhcp server. what can happen is the server will assign an address that is still in use by one system because the system has not renewed it address. the dhcp server is run by your provider, or if you have a router, your router will assign the address. if you have a wireless router please make sure it is password protected to insure no one can tap into your internet connection. hope that answers your questions

 

If you have unprotected Wireless connection at Home then it very easy to Ride on your Internet connection.

Otherwise if the person can not phyisically plug a network wire to your Modem/Router, there is No way to tap to your connection.
