I'm unsure which forum to put this question in...

And I'm unsure if its a stupid question...

Someone recently hacked my email and I had to change my password because the rat bastard was sending viagra ads to friends and customers alike from my email list... btw... always in small groups of 5 or 10?

I use MSN Live email and in searching around I saw on Yahoo this sort of **** is apparently happening a lot recently as they have a warning posted?

FYI... I use windows xp and I 'always' keep it updated... also, I have both MSE and Malwarebytes Anti-malware installed on my computer... I'm disappointed as Malwarebytes showed nothing at the time of the original infection (after I manually ran it it picked up on it).
More importantly, in looking at MSE I discovered , the bug has somehow listed itself in the 'exclusion' lists of MSE...

    WTF mate...

This has happened to my wife twice and several friends in the near past... I am positive my wife's contacts were hijacked on 'Facebook'... and although I don't download my contacts anywhere... I believe I got this bug on Facebook also...

    So:

HOW did this thingey list itself in the exclusions on MSE, which I have set to scan everything and depend on for security...

    AND

How do I hunt down these rat bastards and nuke them?

    Thanks for helping me

You probably won't be able to "track them down and nuke them". But you should always use a different computer when you suspect malware to change your online passwords. How it happened, I can't say, but if you still think you may have malware, then do the following and once you have the requested logs, post in the Malware Removal forum and attach the logs:

    And Welcome to MG's!!!

Also, I don't believe that MalwareBytes watches in "real-time".
It is more an "on demand" type of scanner.

Only the purchased "full version" has realtime protection.
