I'm a self appointed admin on another website. Nobody actually gave me the privs, I just gave em to myself :p hehehe.

Good luck with the DSl, if its as easy as my setup it'll work great :)

Looks like this is gunna get moved.

Ok, AntiVir im guessing, try right clicking the tray icon and then going to exit (at a guess)

MS VM is different to JVM (Virtual Machine vs. Java Virtual Machine). I'm not entirley sure why you need MSVM though.

Go to windows update and make sure you've got all the patches. I would turn off "tea timer" (the padlock thing) for spybot, just to make it easier (or youll be clicking allow, allow, allow all day).. but spyware blaster is fine (it only runs once and changes some settings in IE... so shouldnt interfere with an install)

failed !!! when the phone co. said they were ready, apparently they meant 'sometime today' so ive gotta go through the whole thing again tomorrow. 3hrs sodding about, waiting for tech support, doing all the things they dont tell you in the instructions (like the fact that my puter uses dial up as default and has to be switched to 'lam') . only to find there not actally ready. phone line that came with it is too short to reach the puter desk. intalled it with jacob holding it in midair. (now im laughing...and its not funny). told to disconnect the phone and install directly into phone jack, spent another 1/2 hr waiting to be reconnected to tech etc.etc.etc. will post query re disconnecting antivir on software. aloha to you all

It's called "Teatimer". Disable it in your start up (in SpyBot).

Time to call it a night. See ya'll in the morning.

i dont have anything that sez teatimer on my spy bot.

so another beautigull day in paridise. its been chucking it down all night, but the sun won, and its gonna be a lovely day.

without giving you all a blow by blow account of yesterdays farce, let me just say :-
when i first had a puter, way back 10-15 yrs, it came with an instruction manual as thick as a phonebook. this one came with a leaflet. these are supposed to be 'user freindly'.. the help topics are supposed to tell you all you need to know, yet they dont even cover the basics. the softwhere that comes with other hardwhere or applications is the same. a good eg. of this is unchecking the box that sez 'always dial my default connection' when your switching to dsl. i was already on my third or forth phone call before someonne suggested this! (still diddnt work). there seems to be an awefull lot of things that i should 'just know' and i dont. in the end it had something to do with the ethernet cable. it works fine on the usb. after 10-15 phone calls it was my hubby that suggested trying that!! they even had me in 'the dark side' and told me it was my puter that was the prob!
virizon comes with MSN premium. hubby sez that msn is aols even more evil twin ! comments please.
