Browsing in MS Edge on my Windows 10 Personal machine yesterday morning, I suddenly got two popups with lots of red saying, "Warning! Malware has disabled and is trying to remove McAfee from your computer!" Well, since I got this machine used from a tech-savvy friend with nothing but Windows 10 Personal and the newer improved open-source equivalent to Open Office, I knew the warning couldn't be true. But, I have BitDefender Premium and AdBlock running all the time. Plus, Windows 10 Personal's Defender and Firewall, which you've said is as good as any free one now.

So, anyway, I immediately closed my browser and disconnected from the Internet, then ran a quick scan in BitDefender. It found nothing, so I decided to take the risk of reconnecting and doing your "Read & Run Me First" routine. It only found PUPs, and quarantining them appears to have erased Advanced System Care from my system, but I'll let you be the judge of everything. (Sorry I uploaded them out of order. I forgot about RK because it wasn't on my desktop like the others. I ran them in order, though!)

One note: I had to run MGTools 3x because I didn't see the notes about .NET Framework before running it the first time, and the 2nd time I apparently installed a version that was way too advanced for this version of MGTools (5)? Anyway, the third time I just let Windows automatically download the correct version(s), and then all worked fine and dandy. Before I ran it each time, I tossed the zipped folder in the recycle bin. I hope that was enough to prevent interference/confusion between each run.

Thanks bunches! Peace and health to you all in these times of extreme weather, upheaval, and health crises.

    God bless,
    NonDe

Did the popup include a phone number which it asked you to call? If so then it’s most likely a scam popup hoping you’d call the number where they’d ask you to download team viewer or another similar software to access your pc.
AdwCleaner & MalwareBytes will remove advanced system care as they class it as a pup, if you had/have this installed they you can restore it from quarantine.
I would enable scan for rootkits within Malwarebytes & run it again.

You had a conduit infection. Please re-run ADWCleaner to make sure it is gone and attach the new log.

Wow, only just now seeing this. Should I redo the entire routine at this point? Sorry, but we had a lot of major personal family stuff happen right when you replied.

p.s. I haven't had any trouble with the scary popups in a very long time.

Then it sounds like the scans removed your issues. If you aren't having any pop-ups, no need to redo the procedures.
