Yesterday I was given this computer for free, I am thinking about making this a gaming PC. I have put 0 dollars in this computer, and I was wondering if I should upgrade the CPU,GPU,RAM or just get a new one?

the computer specs are fine for running windows 7 but if you want to go windows 8 upwards I would stick another 4gb memory stick in.

I was thinking about adding 16gb Ram in this, and upgrade to win 10. I am thinking about getting a core intel i7 4460 and plugging it in. I don't know anything about GPU exept installing them. I did the math and it would cost me 350 dollars to do all that. This is why I am here wondering if it be better just to buy a new PC or spend the 350 for the parts and be happy for 5+ years

cost wise it all depends on what you wanting to upgrade and get a cost for the parts but if you buying a new pc you can buy a complete tower or customise the build of your new pc but that can be very costly, you better off doing some research online and see what you can find.

My next question will be about the GPU is there a max I can install like the RAM or can I put in whatever I want / afford?

there is a max limit of ram that can be installed you need to look at your motherboard specs. then you can look at this site Bottleneck Calculator - PC Builds (pc-builds.com) this will tell you which processor and graphics card that will work together and then you can see how much the GPU will cost. another thing to note too is your power supply unit it might not be powerful enough to power a gpu.

Not possible to add 16 GB.
The maximum memory is 16 GB. There are 2 slots. You would need to remove the RAM stick or sticks currently in the computer and buy two 8 GB sticks.

If you scroll down you will see ssd drives for your system.

What do you mean book it? I have a TB right now, so that will get me going for now.

To be fair I could have just bought 1 16gb Ram, due to covid they only had 2x8GB, I dont know if I want to get a SSD right now as I would lose alot of space doing so.

the 16gb stick wouldn't have worked you are better off with 2 sticks of 8gb to be honest. You can get a 1tb ssd but they are very costly compared to a 1tb hdd.

book it = bookmark (if that is your machine, there is much info for you there)

if 1 ssd causes a lot of space loss then the case isn't large enough for much upgrading without running into ventilation and temp problems to last +5yrs.

Put your eyes on a new one. Use this one till you get there, then call it a trusty backup.
