Got this New CPU will it Fit

Ok guys and girl I just bough this new P4 CPU at 512k cache @533mhz FBS

the problem is that my mainboard specifies on a P4 at 512k cache @400mhz FBS

now will this work or harm my system in any way or am I good to go....

Plz...help me before I take it out of the package and put it on....

 

what motherboard do you have?

im thinking it wont work

hmm i think itll work... it will probably just clock back... but dont relly on me... im dumb

 

you have a 1.7ghz celeron? download CPU-z http://www.cpuid.com/ and tell me the code name ...(northwood, willemette, etc) .. also i might add that to my knowledge (and i dont know everything ... lol) they have never made a celeron with 512kb of cache

how fast is the P4? ... there should a number that looks like 2.0c GHz or so ... the letter is important

i couldn't find your board @ http://www.amptron.com/ the closest being 930LSD

i usually go by the rule that if it doesn't specifically say it is compatible then it isn't .. and if you can still return it i would exchange it for a P4 that has a 400MHz FSB ... but like zulu said it may clock back it depends on the timings

Unless your board is special then I don't think it'll work@533FSB, might clock down to 400FSB tho... Maybe a BIOS flash would help..?

 

it all comes down to what chipset you have ... tick "mainboard" in CPU-z
