I love coming here with problems :) The good people always seem to fix it for me really quickly.

So, in the organization, the Group Policies are setup. On every single machine on the network, they are applied correctly, everything works as it should. Which leads me to believe that the GPOs are fine and dandy.

However. With one brand of laptops we have ben purchasing lately - IBM Lenovo - they don't fully work. For example, the default homepage isn't being changed to intranet, but remains on lenovo. Tried a user on an older, but clean, laptop - GPO is applied. Same user, Lenovo laptop - not applied fully. I have looked into the local policies, they aren't being enforced. And due to parts of the GPO being applied, for example, I can not change the homepage without going into the registry.

Any ideas what might be causing this? I've run out of ideas here...

Bit of an update, maybe... I think what happens is that when you log on to the laptop for the first time, it applies the GPO, and then loads personalized settings, which then make the changes to the registry...

Any idea where to disable this?

    just throwing ideas here...,
is it possible the Lenovo's come with something like "norton personal internet security"? It may block GPO's if you didn't configure it...
Or, maybe you have to give the domain user a admin right to the local machine, if we are talking about domain user...
Can you manually change the home page settings after logon?

Norton does ship with the Lenovo's, however, we use our own av and antispyware software, so the first thing that goes is Norton. Then, it being Norton and evil, I bin the CD.
YOu can't manually change the home page, as that's one of the policies in our GPO that is actually applying. I can, however, change it via the registry, but it's a pain in the arse.
And user does have local admin rights just until I hand laptop over to them - then they move to the restricted user group. However, even as admin, same thing happens.
I still believe the problem is that the GPO is applied prior to Lenovo applying personal settings, which then modify the registry. However, for the life of me, i can't find where these settings are kept. Interesting thing I found though, if i log on to machine, log off, log on as admin, delete local profile, log on as user again, GPO is applied correctly, but the personalized settings aren't loaded. It's a bit of a pain to do it this way though.
