GPU Fan

HI,

I have a nVidia GeForce 7600 GS(it's old i know, go ahead and laugh) which was manafactured by PNY Technologies. The problem i have with it is the fan that came with it is outrageously loud. Today, i took it out off the MoBo and cleaned all of the dust off and around the fan & heatsink using compressed air hoping that it would supress the noise a bit, which it seems like it did a hair, but it is still unnaceptably loud. What can i do to quiet this thing down?


P.S.: when i cleaned all the dust off of it, it ran about 5 degrees cooler.roflmao

 

If the noise just started then the bearing must be going, not much else you can do I'm afraid.

 

Ironically Duke Nukem, I have the identical card made by PNY and my fan is really quiet, so I'm afraid that Augiedoggie is right and your fan is heading for that great GPU fan graveyard in the sky!! Still, even though our cards are quite, let's say ancient, I'm sure you'll be able to get a replacement after-market fan for it.
