Graphics Card causing Black ground?

I played Farcry for the first time with my 6800 today. For some reason the gound in some places is black. When i more towards it turns back into ground, and in other cases, it will stay black.

Is there a setting in my video i have to change? Everything right now is set at the highest it can go, and everything is enabled.

Also how come when i clicked auto detect. Everysetting was put to low? I have one of the newest cards on the market! Shouldnt it be at least medium?
