    Hey guys :-D

Need a bit of advice I think I know its beyond hope but I cant afford it to be.

I was playing World In Conflict last night when my PC locked up. I had to hard reset the PC.

When it restarted the graphics of BIOS and Startup were all corrupted, when I would get into windows the PC loaded but the monitor would turn off.

Played around with a lot, it goes into Safe mode fine. So I tried disabling my graphics card. I restarted and whilst the BIOS is still corruputed it now loads uup windows fine but with no graphics card (so super slow and low res and no games!)

when I try to renable my graphics card in windows I get a "siganl is out of range" message on my monitor. I retart and again it wont load and all corrpupted. Only way out is to go back into safe mode and re-disable graphics card.

My pc is AMD 4200, windows xp service pack 2, Nvidia 7950gx 2 with latest drivers.

Any advice other than buy a new graphics card would be great ;)

Well what makes you think it is the BIOS? If the BIOS was messed up you wouldn't even be able to boot to safe mode, your motherboard would be dead!

Do you feel confident with removing your side panel on the PC? Your Video Card may have become "lose" and is not seated properly.

I don't think it is the BIOS, it is just that the graphics are corrupted in the BIOS and during windows startup, not sure if the graphics are corrupted in windows because when it loads up that far the monitor switches off.

They are not corrupted in windows if I disable graphics card, but they remain corrupted in BIOS and startup. So presumably my graphics card is active during start up, but not once it reaches windows and it disables it.

I have tried taking the card out and putting it back in but to no avail.

I cant see why the graphcis card would just brake though, as it has been fine and is only acouple of years old. Plus its been working 100% fine for 2 years, then to suddenly stop working after a game crash is quite puzzling.

I would try and remove the Video Drivers and then reinstall them.

I uninstall the drivers and removed from device manager, so card and drivers gone.

Then reinstall drivers, it gets 90% through installation then right at end the monitor turns off with a "signal is out of range" and the graphics card becomes quite noisy.

have to hard restart then go into windows safe mode and re disable the graphics card.

Does the monitor actually turn off or does it just go blank?

I would check to make sure the screen refresh rate matches what your monitor is compatible with. Perhaps the video cards software has the refresh rate set to high and is causing you to get a blank screen.

With the graphics card disabled, right click on the NVIDIA Settings icon in the System Tray and you should have an option to change the Screen Refresh Rate. Set it to the lowest possible frequency and enable the graphics card once again.

    Good luck
