Hi... I have a computer that has a geforce 5500 and I was wondering since my drivers are from 2004 of november being the 66.93 set do you think that it is ok to update the drivers to the new 91.45 set... I operate on WinXP Home...

    XP Home SP2
Prescott P4 3.0 GhZ dual core
    768 MB Dual Channel DDR

Or do you think that it is wise to install all the updates in chronological order starting where my driver begins untill I get to the one that works the best for my card...

I would advise trying the latest drivers first. Nvidia's driver page has a convenient interface that will help you get these.

I would also advise setting a system restore point before installation in the case that they cause problems, so you can revert to your current drivers with ease. From there you can decide to try other versions, or stick with your current ones.

However, IMO, later drivers are usually best.

Have to agree with the restore point in case things go pear shape as they can. Also you should be removing your older drivers with Drive Cleaner Pro to ensure all traces are removed from your registry and to minimise the potential for conflict.
