Well my xfx7870 gpu was working very well till the start of this week
My psu got broken (it would turn down the main electricity switch when powered)

After that i felt some lines in the images. Opened up the hood just to find the guy who connected it used a split from 1 line (7xxx series need 2 different lines from psu)

So i fixed it and it was working. But then one night i closed my pc and windows told that it was updating drivers. I have no idea which drivers were there but now i uninstalled ati drivers and tried a variety of them.. but when i enable the displaydriver (display adapter) windows will boot in black screen (after starting windows logo it will display pure black and my monitor will then go no signal)

TL;DR After windows updates my gpu stopped functioning and gives no signal after the boot if i have display drivers enabled (windows starting logo)

    Here are my specs..
    • OS: Win7 Ultimate msdn x64
    • Ram: 16G (2x8) Gskill Ripjawsx 1866mhz
    • Cpu: Intel-I7 4770K [No overclock cuz stock fan]
    • Gpu: Xfx 7870 Gddr5 2G @256Bit [Hynix memory]
    • Mobo: Asus z87-Plus [didn't had the spare money for better one]
    • PSU: Xigmatek vector Stealth 80+Silver 750W
    • (my old psu was around 650-700)

    Here are some things i checked till this day;
º Loose cables (i can boot into safe mode fine so they work)
º Mobo (windows boots up with gpu in place if the display drivers are disabled)
º Ram (works fine in safe mode)
º Uninstall latest drivers and install 13.12
º Use ddu to uninstall drivers
º Install only the display drivers and remove ccc and such programs
º Update to the latest drivers
º Use windows update to update drivers
º Turn auto updating the drivers off
º Turn pc off and remove power plug. Then hold on button for couple secs/mins
º Try gpuZ (yeah it detects my gpu)
º Unplug gpu /cables and replug
    º Blow the dirt off
º Tighten the screws that hold gpu in place

    Things i havent tried
Bootable Gpu memory testers (such as vmtce)
Formatting windows/hard drive (would be my last option allways)

So how can i fix my issue ? Any ideas will be appriciated :)

Which Security software? Panda created a bug this week which gave a few users a black screen on boot, iirc. The timing was inside the first wave of Windows Updates.

Can you test the GPU in another rig which has a good quality 500w+ PSU?

(Up to and including many of the 7850s, only one 6-pin connector is needed.)

I knew that some security software might get in the way thats why i uninstalled all but mbam

I will try using another rig to test (and use another gpu in my rig)
also the 2x6 pin was recommended by xfx's info card
Didn't wanted to go out of warranty :)

Well I was going to test it with our other pc but while taking apart i realised it had i5 (no gpu in processor) and psu had 6 pin to 6 pin (both sides) connectors while my psu has 8 pin to 6 pin.

So i plugged my gpu in but i had only 1 cable coming out of psu while my gpu requires two 6 pins.

I tried to plug that one 6 pin to first side only and second side only but no signal again.

I tried its gpu on my system. It worked but it required 1x6 pin so i still do not know if my psu can't power my gpu with 2x6 pins or my gpu is dead

I will take it to a local internet cafe so probably they will let me to try :)

Will be updating after i try there.
