Graphics Card Not Game Compatible?

Hi! So, I recently got a game through Steam: Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 Triple Thrill Pack. I own the first and third (and all their expansions) that both work fine. Never owned the second, but now that I try to play it, it doesn't seem to work! When I click it, there's an error message saying "Game Initialization Failed/Unable to initialize graphics system".

Is it a problem with my graphics card? Is there any way this could be fixed? The game was a gift and it'd break my friend's heart for me to not be able to play, not to mention I really want to play!

Could be the game is not compatable with a 64bit version of Windows 7. I had that problem with scanner software that worked fine with Windows 7 32bit, but wouldn't work with the 64bit version.

Have you tried running the game via compatablility mode? Didn't work for my scanner woes, but it might for a game.

 

I've tried multiple combinations of compatibility mode, including using Windows Vista, XP, 98, and also tried running in 256 colors and 640x480 screen resolution. None of these options gave me any luck unfortunately.

 

Did you verify the game cache through steam? sometimes steam doesn't correctly download to your hdd. I would also think that if you can play 3, you should be able to play 2 on the same pc.

Id also search the steam forums to see if theres some fix there. A lot of times you can find solutions there. (id help further but my pc's fubar at the moment and I can only browse these forums lol)
