Ok. I bought a new computer about a month ago. It's this one, except i bought it at walmart nonrefurbished. I'm just wondering what kind of slot it has to upgrade my graphics. I tried to put in the graphics card that was in my old computer (agp), and it was a little too big for the slot, but to me, the slot looks agp. I actually snapped some plastic off the card and my slot thing trying to get it in. still works though :)
So is it just a really small agp slot? it's above my 3 pci slots just like on my old comp. Also, i'm not sure what motherboard i have. I used everest home and all it tells me is:

    Field Value
    Motherboard Properties
    Motherboard ID 05/13/2005-RS480-SB400-6A666M4HC-00
    Motherboard Name Unknown

    Front Side Bus Properties
    Bus Type AMD Hammer
    Real Clock 200 MHz
    Effective Clock 200 MHz
    HyperTransport Clock 1000 MHz

    Memory Bus Properties
    Bus Type DDR SDRAM
    Bus Width 64-bit
    Real Clock 166 MHz (DDR)
    Effective Clock 332 MHz
    Bandwidth 2659 MB/s

Any help would be great. Thanks!

You have 1 PCI-e 16x slot, since you only spent 400$~ odd bucks on it, what are you willing to spend on a video card? What are you looking to do w/that pc? Also, are you *ucking crazy? In what world do you think that for hardware to work you need to snap pieces of it off! IF IT DOESNT FIT THERES A REASON. Jesus.

If I read the specs correctly on the link you provided, that motherboard has a graphics system built into it. If you've broken plastic off the video card or the slot and your computer is still working, it's likely that you're still running on the video system on your motherboard. It's not likely that either the slot or the card will work if something has been broken off it.

The picture I saw on the link you provided showed a PCIe slot. It was white, like most PCI slots. AGP slots are normally brown. There are also (at least) two versions of AGP slots, and they are not compatible. Version 1 runs at 3.3 volts, version 2 runs at 1.5 volts. They're all keyed differently to prevent installation of the wrong type of card in the slot. A 16x PCIe slot is quite similar to an AGP slot in size.

The short answer: If you've broken the slot, it's not likely that you can upgrade the graphics in your system. You're stuck with the graphics subsystem on your motherboard.

    Alright.
hehe. I know i shouldve have broken it. The graphics card still works because i put it back in my bro's comp. On both i only broke off the part that snaps it into place - on the slot, the little flippy thing to secure your card in - so i think i should be good to go. Thank you all. :D
