graphics card upgrade.

i recently purchased a new Dell PC and with it i got a half decent graphics card, the upshot of this is i have recently gotten into online gaming (something i didnt really plan when i was buying the PC)

some of the specs are as follows..

Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory: 1022MB RAM

and the graphics card is..
ATI RADEON X600 256MB HyperMemory


if i wanted to upgrade my graphics card what would be the logical one to go for? i dont really want to spend a fortune but would like to upgrade it some ways.
does anyone know any good sites where i can compare and contrast, i would hate to buy one only to find out afterwards that its gonna slow my system down or not be compatable with some other features of my pc.

Make a ".txt" report on the Computer > Summary section and attach this. It will provide all the info needed. Also can you state where you are in the world then people can give you relevant online sites.

a 7600gt, 7900gt, x1800 or an x850 would be good. What price range we looking at? Also, what games are you playing?

 

i'm looking at spending about €200-250, the games i'm playing are pretty standard, like counter strike source and some of the newer PC games, i suppose i want a "middle of the road" graphics card that will future proof some of the games coming out.
probably lookin for the best of both worlds! budget price with kickass graphics?
am i asking too much??
