OK, try and stay with me cause this gets a little long.

I was running TS2:Nightlife on my machine with no issues at all, as many specs as I could find follow:

    CPU: Intel p4 3.00
    System Memory: 512meg ddr
    NVidia Geforce 5700le 128meg grahpics
    Windows XP home sp2
    Video driver version 78.01
    Direct X 9.0c

Then my system pretty much fried and I had to replace the PSU, the Motherboard and CPU and now run

    CPU: AMD Sempron 2600+
    Motherboard: Winfast 760GXK8MG
    System Memory: 512meg ddr
    NVidia Geforce 5700le 128meg grahpics
    Windows XP home sp2
    Video driver version 81.85
    DirectX 9.0c

I know I've taken a CPU drop, but it was all I could afford right now, and was willing to take a hit in performance and detail settings to account for this.

I reinstalled the Sims after rebuilding the machine yesterday and now neighbourhoods are either blacking out streets, or throwing blue and green misshapes across the screen.

I have tried adjusting the accelerated graphics settings and rolling back drivers to the ones I was using problem free in the past, but have had very little joy. I did get it to the point where it will run the game for approx 5 - 7 minutes before throwing graphics errors at me, but that's it.

when you changed up your system, did you do a complete clean install? Does this happen to other games?

I did only a repair install of Windows to be honest, but a completely clean install of the game. Other games?? There are other games to play?? :p Seriously I have no idea if it happens with other games, I don't have any others installed on this machine. But here's a screenie to all my simmie funkiness:

Well since you have a new mobo/processor/video card installed it would be wise to do a completly clean install of WXP since old mobo / product drivers could still "stick" to a repaired windows.

Your error looks like either a) driver issue or b) memory issue on video card.

OK, I'll back up all my data and give that a try. If it is a card memory issue is the only fix a new card or are there some settings hidden someplace I can tweak?

If its bad memory on the card you need to exchange it at the place of purchase for another, or warrenty coverage RMA, or buy a new(different) one.

OK, I've clean installed windows on a completely formatted drive and I'm still having more or less the same issues, although the graphics revert to normal momentarily if I pan the camera, so I guess I'm gonna keep trying different driver versions for a while. and if I exhaust all possibilities there I guess I'll have to look at getting my card replaced.

    Thanks for your help.
