Hi, I have nVidia G Force 7800 and I know graphics is difficult to diagnose. however here is the problem I have LCD with horizontal lines, blue screens, blinking screens and on top of that after boot up the screen freezes, so I boot on safe mode and the laptop is functioning but the vertical lines are still there adding external monitor the lines are transfered there too, removing the card driver dose not remove the lines. The question is? do I have bad LCD and graphics card too or what is going on. thanks

If you're seeing the issue on an external monitor as well, then your LCD (or cable) is not the problem. What kind of laptop is it? is the graphics card integrated?

And you have completely uninstalled the the display adapter through the device manager and reinstalled? If so, did windows automatically pick up the driver or did you get it from the Dell website?

Well I did it this way I completely uninstalled the the display adapter and I got the driver from nVidia but I get a blank screen and I reinstall the dell driver (downloaded from dell) several times but I dint have windows search for it. BTW I did remove all traces of nVidia from the machine prior to re-install.

The chipset upgrade dint do a fix the lines are still here, installing the driver for the card gave me the blue screen like before with the error "nv4_disp.dll" un-installed the driver and remove the nv4_disp.dll from system_32 that dint do anything. :crybaby:banghead

This is sounding more and more like a driver issue. What was the exact error message?

Based on the bluescreen, you may have a faulty video card. Bluescreens often indicate a hardware issue. Do you have access to the video card through any hatches or covers on the back of the laptop? If you do, you could try removing the card, cleaning the contacts with a q-tip and some rubbing alcohol, and reseating it. Worth a try anyway.
