graphics problems on halo and other games.

hi its me again.

i have recently installed and Nvidia Geforce fx 5200 graphics card onto my computer. it all works fine but when i am playing a game ( i have played halo mostly.) i get some kind of lag. its like a choppy effect. i have installed all of the latest drivers and my pc can handle the games im putting on easy.

my previous was a Nvidia Geforce 2 and i had no problems.

i have been on the card settings and nothing seems to make it work. if you can help that would be great.

my specs are...

Intel Celeron 330 2.68 GHZ
512 mb
cd rom HP DVD Writer 300c CDR, CDR-W (40x ) (16x )

p.s. what does benchmarking mean?

 

The 5200 was a bad choice. I previously had the 5200 256 MB card. When halo came out for the pc, I bought it, attempted to play, and it was unplayable. So, I got the new patch that fixes "lag" issues, well, now it is just horrible. I since shelved the game.

Later when HL2 came out, I decided to upgrade to a 6800, since then halo played fine.

I'd take the card back and install atleast a 6600gt. IMHO.

 

thank you for your reply. but i didnt buy it new my dad (im 14) got it off his freind from work.(he is trustable.) for £15 about $20. but if you think that its my card thats the problem and not how its set up. i will have to put up with it.

You may also want to set the graphics in halo to the lowest possible. Screen resolution to 800x600 (I think 640x480 is also a choice...whatever is the lowest).

 

i have done that but i might as well put my old graphics card in if i have to take those actions.
