Welcome to the official Zac Browser site – Zone for children living with autism.

Here you will find the best environment on the Internet for children living with various autism challenges.

Zac Browser is a totally free software package. It is the first Internet browser developed specifically for children living with variants of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), Asperger syndrome, Rett syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, PDD not otherwise specified and PDD-NOS, also called atypical autism.

Zac Browser was designed to offer a pleasant, rewarding and secure experience. Children sing, play and discover the best that the Internet has to offer with only a few clicks of the mouse.

Zac Browser is software that allows your child to access games (a lot of games) activities (based on diverse interests) along with videos (that allow a stimulating experience and encourages children to talk). All games, activities and videos are specifically chosen for their positive effect on children suffering from autism.

So why not do like a million other people have done throughout the world, install Zac Browser now.

The new version of Zac Browser now includes a link towards the latest news as well as open discussions on the subject of autism via « The Autism News.com ».

My grandson who is high on the Autism Spectrum uses this browser and enjoys it very much. He is 6. His brother who is 4 and has ADHD enjoys it too.

    The origins of Zac Browser

ZAC Browser was originally designed in response to a family problem. In 2002, we were blessed with the arrival of our grandson, Zackary. From very early on, Zackary demonstrated signs of development disorders and in 2005, he was diagnosed with severe autism. For the love of our grandson, it was a pleasure to call together our talents to create an Internet browser specifically dedicated to his needs.

Zackary’s first experience with the Zac Browser

From the moment that Zackary tried out the Zac Browser we noticed that he had no more frustrations when using the computer. He was no longer able to click on anything that would bring up unpleasant surprises. So we gave complete control to Zackary and so he was able to play, be entertained and took best advantage of what technology has to offer.

Once we noticed the benefits for Zackary it became obvious that this immense virtual playground should be shared with the whole world.

We know that parents who take care of children with autism must dish out a lot of money to ensure the well-being and the proper development of their child. We wish to contribute in our own way and offer you Zac Browser absolutely free.

The official launch was at the end of April 2008 and it was an instant success thanks to the wide media coverage that we were lucky to benefit from

    The future of Zac Browser

We can now count on over a million users in different languages: English, Spanish and French. We don’t expect to stop there. We are following through with our commitment and continue refining Zac Browser so as to always be on the cutting edge of technological advances. Without you having to continually upgrade, Zac Browser automatically adds new sites and videos as they become available. We are also committed to expanding Zac Browser with other languages. If you wish to get involved and contribute to the expansion of Zac Browser, please consult our "Associate" section.

This is a gift from John to the Autism community. I am very grateful to him for creating this safe space for children.

IMO, I think this would be a safe and nice intro to computers for young Neurotypical children too.

Thank you for your time and I hope this can be of value. MajorGeeks has done so much for more over the last few years ...

    Hi

Nice post and looks as if that browser app is one that helps children with various learning disorders get the best out of computing for them in their early years.

Yes, it does help children with a variety of learning disorders get the best experience out of computing . Thank you, I felt it was important to share this information and I hope it will be helpful to all children with learning disabilities and I think it might be fun for children 3-6? without learning disabilities, just as a fun , safe place to learn, watch video's, play games, etc.

On that point, which I think is a good one also, I may try this with my nieces and some friends children as you are perfectly right, any teaching aid is likely to be a good one and this one is also likely to be more cognitive in origin.

I was surfing the web this morning catching up on autism news, and I discovered an autism tool that I had never heard of before. Internet browsers geared for kids on the autism spectrum.

There are two of them. One is geared for early childhood and elementary age kids, called Zac Browser. http://www.zacbrowser.com/

The other is geared toward teenagers, called Tweens Browser. http://www.tweensbrowser.com/.

I invite you to check out these sites and learn more about this product.
