Greatest Australian Motor race this weekend

Bathurst 1000 kilometre race ( around 625 miles) and 161 laps of the toughest street racing circuit in the World, is on this weekend.

It will be a sad weekend and a tribute to Australia's greatest saloon (sedan) racing driver. Peter (perfect) Brock, or Brocky as he was known.

Yep Can't wait. Won't be too much of anything getting done at my place this weekend. I see all the Holdens are going to have black bonnets for Brocky. Also have a new clubsport they are letting everyone write their messages to Brocky on.

Bathurst 1000 is good stuff, we usually get it in the UK about 2 weeks later.

 

The great race this year will be one of the most memorable and saddest in the events history.
Im sure Brocky and Steve Irwin will be watching from the pearly gates with a fully stocked esky and a widescreen, made available by the great man himself!
Who knows? He might even watch a lap or two and have a coldie with our two Aussie hero's!
More than ever, i hope that Holden can come home 1, 2 and 3 for the boy's...

I'll be watching each and every lap!

Six hours to go until Friday noon, when the first TV telecasts go to air, covering the first official TV sessions. Already Mark Scaife (Holden) is setting fastest laps.

A monumental bingle already. One car speared off Conrod Straight at around 280 kilometres per hour ( 175mph) when a tyre (tire to you Yanks ) blew.

Into the wall he went, a couple of times, but the TAFE panelbeating students will have it ready for Friday session, they think. Can't wait for noon. Bazza

 

Terrible accident yesterday with 2 drivers flown to different hospitals. It happened at a fairly limited vision "blind" corner. Both drivers are in critical condition. It happened in a support race.

In the main race qualifiers to determine the top 10 drivers shootout today, Mark Skaife ( Holden) was fastest. Bazza

 

One of the drivers was bought out of an induced coma. The other driver is still on like support.

Holden ( Mark Scaife) is off pole with a Ford driver alongside, then 2 Holdens off the next row,

TV telecast starts in 2 hours (7am) and goes for 10 hours until 5pm. Can't wait. Bazza
