My computer works fine, but that green screen at boot up is just terrible. It is even green in the bios and windows repair screens. I loaded a new 64 bit Windows 7 and also installed ubuntu on an external hard drive. When I turned on the external drive and booted it would briefly flash a boot screen and go to Ubuntu. When I closed down ubuntu and turned off the ext. drive and booted it would boot to Windows 7. It was great. Then I tried to load an old HP printer software and my boot sequence to Windows 7 did not always work, so eventually I just reinstalled Windows 7 and all the updates and everything was fine. So I wanted to go to my ubuntu install and turned on the ext. drive and rebooted. Not only would it not boot to ubuntu or Windows, but I got this green screen (probably from Mint Ubuntu). I turned off the ext. drive and booted to Windows 7, but now the splash screen (Gigabyte) and boot screen are bright green! It boots fine to Windows. But, how do I get rid of the green screen?

    1. I tried Windows 7 Boot Updater and it would not work properly.

    2. I tried repair startup in Windows Repair.

    3. I tried command bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot in Windows Repair with no success.

    4. I tried command bootsect /nt60 All and it would not work.

    5. I flashed the bios. No good.

All I want is my black background back at startup.

    I have Motherboard: Gigabyte F2A88X-UP4
    Processor : AMD A10-7850K
    SSD : Kingston HyperX 3K , SH103S3
    RAM : Kingston HyperX KHX21C11T2K2/16

Just to finish off, normal color returns at the welcome screen and does not affect color inside Windows OS. Can someone help? Now if I was a real geek I would have probably known to reinstall Ubuntu on the exterior drive also so I would not mess things up with my Windows 7 boot. Obviously Ubuntu put something into the boot manager when I tried to go to the old install of the ext. drive.

Just one more thing: I tried system restore, will not restore all files even several days ago.

I guess nobody has any experience with my problem. To update, I solved my boot problem by using Easy Recovery Essentials to repair boot mgr and then flashed the bios again. No boot problems again, but still green screen. I disconnected all drives and booted to bios. Still GREEN. It is driving me crazy. Did Ubuntu hijack some parameters in the boot sequence?
