Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

    Greetings.

    Just had a new pop-up on a Win7 SP1 machine from avast! 2014.9.0.2011 called "GrimeFighter", a self-described "PC optimization and clean-up utility".

Wondering if anyone has used this, and if so is it worthwhile? Thanks for any info/input.

I don't think I'd trust it. I've used CCleaner for quite a while and CCleaner is trusted by MG's.

Stay away from any program that says it can speed up or fix any registry problems.
They will only find errors, even on a clean install.

They will only screw up your computer.
The only things that can make it faster are: an SSD, more ram and a quality CPU.

Appreciate the replies, but I'm looking for input from anyone who has actually used the GrimeFighter routine.

Maybe I wasn't clear in my original post: "GrimeFighter" is part of the avast! package (located in avast!'s 'Tools' section) and appears to do roughly the same thing as CCleaner: cleans trash, monitors startups, looks for bloatware and obsolete registry entries.
