grrr DOS Format?

ok..so I have some corrupted screwed up hard drive with nothing on it...

but something is wrong...can't even load a Linux Cd...

so I loaded a boot disk floppy so I could get to the command prompt...


I thought you were supposed to type "fdisk" ??

it says bad command or file name..

I tried

fdisk
format c:
/q


none of em work.

help please?

 

and I've tried Darik's Boot and Nuke...but it always gives me a "system halt" for some reason..

 

Try downloading and running the appropiate disk for your system from bootdisk.com, see if that helps you.

One of the main reasons that the earlier commands failed is probably that they are not contained on that disk!

well, theres 2 other random problems before I do all that...

#1. everything freezes randomly...even in DOS...which I perceive that as bad...

#2..when I put in a windows ME reinstallation cd...it either freezes (as stated above..) or it gives me some crap about a section on the disk being messed up and will continue to skip over it..

 

yepp....that didn't work....

I'm afraid that HDD might've gotten...ehhh...a bit beat up... let's try another hard drive shall we?...

 

blagh....forget it...I'm gettin too aggravated to put up with em....just buy some new hard drives later..
