Don't you find it annoying when something has become corrupt, meaning the only option is to back and reformat and reinstall??!!!
Tis really annoying, having to back up all my music and docs, then reinstall!!!

Sorry, needed to let the anger out, I'll be quiet now....

So we all had good weekends???

YES!!!!!! especially when I just use old puters that people give me, and they always have no software to go with it. Its like they all have different personalities? Like my dogs do. I'm waiting for 64 bit, and everything goes to my big hammer, and buy a new one .

OEM 64bit version of xp is out in UK for just under £100, that's the pro version.

I have been thinking of upgrading to XP Pro X64 edition, but I did read that you have to format your drive to install it. Do you think I could simply put all my important stuff on my second partition and simply format my windows partition to install x64? I really don't wanna have to backup my stuff again...

Stuff on a second partition would be safe. You only have to reformat the C partition.

But, why do you want to go 64 bit right now? It requires new drivers that your hardware sources may not have yet, if ever, very few applications can run in 64 bit mode, and some features of WinXP are NOT included.

Unless you're actually doing something important that actually needs and uses 64 bit, I'd wait for Longhorn.

I dual boot X64 and X32, X64 does have some speed boosts, but as GT said you need driver support and its all not there yet. CPU and mem benchmarks come out higher in X64 and game benchmarks come out higher in X32

Yeah, the X.P. 64 bit version is probaly best to wait a bit longer.

Actually, I've upgraded all the computer at my business and home computers with AthlonA64's and mainboards, new RAM and additional H.H.D.'s, and they work just fine on 32bit XP, only MUCH faster, due to improved C.P.U. architecture, memory handling, etc. This machine has a fairly modest Athlon 64 3200 (939pin) @ 2.5Ghz/250MHz FSB, and has a PR 3600+ speed rating, according to tests.

It's chalk and cheese between the two systems, when comparing to the old 32bit hardware.

Sure, they run even better on Win XP 64 O.S. but I don't use it, and it works fine - and is a VERY fast system, No special drivers needed, apart from the mainboard drivers, on the C.D. with the board.

64 bit software will no doubt be more prevalent in the near future, but it not only runs fine on 32 bit software, but does so very efficiently and quickly indeed.

I'm going to wait until 64 bit becomes more mainstream!!

My Athlon 3000 400fsb with an sata hard drive runs pretty quick...about as quick as a click of the mouse, which is pretty satisfactory in my world!!

Or as my grandfather always said..."good enough for a town this size"

My luck...I'll upgrade everything...and it will be like back when my dad bought me a Coleco instead of an Atari!! We all seen how mainstream the Coleco became!!! LOL
