Ok, i bought an nVIDIA Geforce6200 256MB vid card off ebay and tried to install it to no avail - I kept getting a black screen with a cursor (sometimes the cursor was purple acc.!) halfway through the install. After much research, I read that it is often times neccesary to remove the old drivers before installing the new ones. So, I went into control panel under Display, and removed them. (my old Vid card was a Geforce 4) It prompted me to reboot and when it did, instead of opening up XP, my screen goes blank and a monitor message comes up that says "Sync out of Range". I turned it off and put in the new vid card, and the same thing happens - XP wont even boot.. the Windows logo comes on with the status bar, but after that it just cuts off. Now I'm in the CMOS Setup utility and have found that it is waaayy over my head.
What should I do. I just wanted to play San Andreas with nice graphics, damnit. now my whole system is screwed.
    Any enlightened suggestions?

heh, 6200 won't get you nice grahpics but regardless. I've only seen the sync out of range error on my bro's PC, when (somehow) BF2 buggered itself and set refresh rate to 200mhz. You sure you removed your nvidia videocard drivers and not say, your mobo (nforce is made by nvidia) drivers?

yeah,.. pretty sure. I went through control panel>display>settings>advanced>and then if i remember there was a tab with the nVIDIA logo on it and I uninstalled it under that. it asked me to reboot and then messed up.
By the way what is Mobo?

Omegamerc is talking about your motherboard ( mobo ) chipset drivers....do you have a Nforce chipset motherboard ???? and did you just uninstall every thing nvidia ????

the motherboard is a gigabyte Socket A KT400 series... not sure about the chipset.
Next to the AGP slot it says K7 Triton... maybe thats the chipset?
I cant really tell too easily if it's an Nforce or not because Its not a pre-made comp. Me and my buddy went to different little computer stores and he built it for me from scratch. If his phone wasnt cut off this wouldnt be an issue.

when its loading windows keep tapping F8,this "should" get you into safe mode, once there check for any residual nvidia drivers in ADD\REMOVE programs and remove them, restart and let it boot normally if you still have no joy, download drivercleaner pro from the download/drivers section, follow the instructionns in the readme to the LETTER,you have already uninstalled most of the driver components so you may just have to run the cleaner in safe mode to completely remove anyhthing that is left, reboot, let windows load normally "if it can" then install the latest drivers :)
