GRRRR! Vista updates consuming disk space!

Ok, this is just getting silly now. Had 7Gig free on my Vista Business laptop hard disk this AM. Got a popup telling me about Office 2k7 updates (384Meg worth), so I downloaded and installed them. Now I'm at 5 Gig free! WTF?!?!? Updates are single-handedly consuming more disk space now than installed applications! I don't even have data on this drive any more: I've moved it all off onto an external drive just to free space!

Is Vista storing these downloads somewhere that I can wipe them from? I'm not concerned with uninstalling updates, so keeping an uncompressed copy for uninstall purposes isn't feasible any more. What are you guys doing to keep MS' gobbling of your hard disk from continuing?

    Thanks for the input!
