To offset what was a crappy Friday, this new vid card is, simply put, a kick butt folder.:-D
By itself, it's throwing about 8K PPD and I haven't tried over-clocking shaders yet as augie does.
Another good point is the CPU usage by the card is way down from my older 3870x2 usage. ATI needs to do some serious changing on there support for folding if they want to come anywhere close to Nvidia's contribution.
This should put me into the 13K - 14K PPD along with the VM notfred's I'm running and replace the lost production augie contributed. (Many thanks for that.:cool)

Anybody else have some serious vid cards to help out in the research? Don't need to dedicate a comp 24/7, just throw some points in when you can.

I am running a GTX295 but it does not perform as good as your 260 on folding.
I have been changing formats and generally playing around with the inside of the PC but nothing gets it to run the way it should (like an express train)

In the near future i am getting an intel i7 950 CPU and a good i7 Mobo so maybe then it will perform.

I still have a GTX 260 and a GTX 250 in the workshop because i sold my second rig last month and have not started the new build yet.

Yup, a down to earth sweet card indeed! Congrats :highfive Don't rush into OC'ing, install Precision and check the temps first after it's been running a couple of days, fan should be barely audible and at %40 on Auto. Heck, the fan isn't even that loud or annoying at %100, just a nice sounding whoosh.

I agree, that card is good for games, and a great Folder. I just crank up the fans with Rivatuner, do a little overclocking and just let it fold. I find the noise from the fan speeding up and down more annoying than just letting it run on high.

Well I've been doing a small bit of OC on the shaders.;)
Got them up to 1475 Mhz from the card's standard 1350 which is above the reference clock of 1242.
Holding a pretty steady 60 C at 60% fan. I'll see how this stands for a day or two and then up it a little more.:-D

That's not too bad at all! OK, just for comparison's sake here, my shaders are 1512(basically max) with an eVGA, with fan on auto which @ %45 it's at 75C and @%60 it's 66C. It is a tad warm in here as when I wave my hand around, I don't feel any cool air. I guess I better turn down the baseboard heater a bit!:-D I'm going to turn down the heat to where it's 68F or so and check again. Hmm, besides my GTX rig is sitting top of my quad. That might have something to do with the heat too!

I don't mind a %10 OC unless one delves into the arcane world of RivaTuner and uber cooling, that's about all that you can expect and I for one can't afford to fry any 260's!:-D.

We usually keep the house in the high 60's during the day during heating season and low 60's at night. (Love those programmable thermostats.);)

I'll see about getting a higher clock once a day or two goes by and everything seems stable. Just using Precision right now for OC.
Daggone stats being down blew my average daily but I'm still shooting for 13K PPD with this one rig.:major

Well, at least with the 260 it'll lock when the OC get's too high and not because of temps either. Reboot time.;)

Well I couldn't wait for the second day so I upped the shaders to 1512 Mhz last night.;)
Now what is weird is I cut my fan to 50% and the temp dropped a degree or 2 at the higher clock. :confused Ambient is about the same so that shouldn't be a problem. I'll have to see what happens today with the temps.

Not to rain on anyones parade, but when I receive the three cards soon (about two weeks) 88xx series cards I do not plan any over clocks as I believe this in time will deteriorate the silicon chips involved.

Two of the three cards are factory OC and I may use the program augie suggested to down clock, will check out the heat situation and may just leave alone when all is done and said.

As to the stat servers I was looking forward to a minimum base line of 1000 not 500 point base line, but oh well, just a point thing.

I am running a GTX295 without overclocking and it runs very hot when folding (93-95c) but if i push the shaders up to around 1500 it cools the card to around 75-78c so overclocking is not always a bad thing.

Have had my shaders at 1566 for 3 days now and nary a problem.:cool
Most WUs put the temps at 60C at 65% fan but some run at 47C to 50C. Go figure.:confused

Mine are at 1550 for the time being.

Bill, you obviously have another card in there, probably not a 260 as you unlinked the two so what is it and is it folding? Even at 12hrs folding/day you should be getting more points as an OC'd 260 is good for 3.5K PPD in your scenario. I'll also assume you're running at least the 190.38 drivers?

In my i7 rig i have a GTX260 with the shaders at 1500 but the second one i published is the other rig with the GTX 295 in it and the shaders at 1550 but it is unstable so i put them back to 1500

the folding with notfred yesterday was a disaster, it folded all day and not a single point so it's back to the drawing board :cry

Pushed my shaders to 1584 a couple of days ago and still rock solid with temps still holding where they have been all along.:-D

Gawd man!!! Mine chokes @ 1520 with everything else @ stock. I'm not too interested in pushing the volts either. These things just cost too much for me to fool around with.;)

Mine hasn't thrown an EUE and everything else is at stock.:)
I just keep the fan @ 65%. I just checked temp at 56C, ambient 69F.
    Somebody likes me I guess.rolleyes

    #2 EVGA GTX260-216 came online tonight.:major

I'll start pushing the shaders here shortly after it settles in. See if it comes up to the first one's level.:cool
