H+BEDV antivirus causing crashes

After three years using this trouble free program, the latest version is crashing just before bootup completes, or the bootup won't finish- the mouse works but all desktop icons are dead, including 'start'. See the attachment for the warning I got during installation. Since it mentions drivers, I reloaded my chipset drivers and video card driver, but that didn't help. Since i had no video problems before, I'm thinking this is a generic warning and the 'drivers' part doesn't apply. I have also tried installing the prog numerous times. If these were the only symptoms i could live with it, but all programs get slower with use and I'm expecting a complete freeze up if things continue as is.

I've tried all the free antivirus programs in the past and this was the only one that ran trouble-free on my win98se with go-back. I can continue to use the older version (I've reverted my c drive with the go-back) but it will no longer internet update, making it a short term solution.

Any help will be appreciated.

to do more than view pre-posted topics (post new topic) it seems to require german. registration page is 95% german.

 

Thanks, but I've tried Avast and AVG with similar results. All other progs are shareware. Looks like I have to pony up.
