Would be interesting to know what Documents and Settings\geek points to. Do you actually see the normal Windows 7 desktop after this adventure? Also, are all of your files and programs still in place?

Curious what security you were using and what method you think the hacker(s) may have used to gain access to your computer. Sounds like you need something better security-wise than whatever you were using that's for sure. There are really good ways of tracking command line activity that could help learn what is happening under the surface of things, but I guess you will be reinstalling Windows soon enough, rather than trying to save the installation.

You might also want to check and make sure no new accounts have been added to the computer. Personally, I would probably want to at least see that and then monitor/probe for command line activity for a while before I reinstall Windows. Might be able to learn how it happened etc. Control Panel->User Accounts to check for rogue user accounts.

If in fact you do reinstall Windows, along with your security software I suggest you also run VoodooShield.

Good luck getting things straightened out. Do you have a question about any of this?

I would unplug the internet, backup files, and then reinstall Windows for starters.

ok, sounds good @AtlBo but i only have a win 7 os set up. i found the number to the ransom virus 1 800 934 280 and looked it up. im trying to find a fix. my win7 OS is at my ex's house. no files have been damaged, just my hotmail accounts. also because of advanced SystemCare - i cant defrag my C: drive. and Malwarebits blocked everything from Orbit that comes with ASC exe . im slowly working on stuff. thanks for all your help, Jeff
