    Hello MajorGeekers,

I have just put together the following rig:

-Gigabyte Z87 LGA 1150 CrossFireX DVI/HDMI mATX Motherboard
    -Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core
    -32GB (4x8GB) CORSAIR Vengeance LP SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
    -EVGA GeForce GTX 760 (4GB 256-bit GDDR5)
-SanDisk Extreme II 240 GB SATA 6.0Gb/s 2.5" SSD

and am following these LifeHacker guides to get it outfitted with Linux, MacOSX and Win7:

The majority of tutorials/documentation out there, particularly that of tonymacx86, supposes that one has access to a Mac and/or an optical drive. I have neither, so I'm using TransMac to mount .dmg's/.iso's to flash drives and booting from them (or attempting to boot them) from the new, OS-less machine. I've tried this with the latest Haswell build of iBoot. I cannot boot from it no matter what I do with the boot options. This being the second step of the LifeHacker guide to an OSX install, that leaves me stuck.

Any and all help greatly appreciated,

Sorry to burst your bubble but, you can't install OSX along side Win 7. It's illegal.:(

Newmy, you obviously can PHYSICALLY install OSX alongside Win7, but you need to focus on the second part of mdonah's post. It is "illegal" according to the EULA of OSX, which specifically states that OSX can only be installed on Apple hardware.

The moment you discussed Hackintosh is the moment you revealed you were not installing on Apple. And the moment this became apparent, this discussion became about "pirated" software, which I believe violates the TOS of Major Geeks.

I have no authority here, and I don't make the rules, so please accept this "heads-up" warning in the friendly manner it is intended to be. No disrespect intended here, and I'm not interested in a philosophical debate about the legality and/or loopholes in proprietary software; and as a matter of fact, I also have a Hackintosh.

But also as a matter of fact, I believe the TOS of this site prevent that discussion. I don't know how to help you, but even if I did, I'm not interested in a warning or infraction for the help. With all due respect, this question should be directed to TonyMac or another such Hackintosh-related forum. That's the best advice we can give here.

I will wish you good luck in resolving your issue, but I'll be disappearing from this thread before infractions are bestowed, or before the thread itself disappears in a deleted fashion?!!

If you want to discuss a dual-boot Linux-Win setup, or anything linux-related, please start a new thread, as I'll be avoiding this one from this point forward!

Apple's EULA specifically states you can not legally do that. You will not be able to get help with pirated software on Majorgeeks, so I'm going to have to lock this thread.
