My Microsoft Security Essentials keeps warning about it. I'ts supposed to block windows activation updates?
I suspect it to be root of some malware and would like to allow antivirus to remove it, but then will it allow Windows 7 activation updates?

Are you not using a legit version of Windows?

    Properly activated and all that?

No, it's supposed to be pre-activated.

Sounds like it is pirated, and considering you recently built a computer from your other threads, I'd further suspect that.

We cannot really help you with this. The best advice I can give you is to get a legit copy of Windows with a product key you can activate. If you have a valid product key that can be activated, you can download the images from Microsoft and burn them yourself.

If you delete this application, you will likely no longer be activated. In which case, you can attempt to activate with Microsoft, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. On top of that, you do not know if this version of Windows has been compromised.

From his/her other thread it looked to me like a non-legit installation. He/she hasn't commented.
